Lucy GrealyDoes something which exists on the edge have no true relevance to the stable center, or does it, by being on the edge, become a part of the edge and thus a part of the boundary, the definition which gives the whole its shape?
About This Quote
I was thinking about what I have just read, which is an article to do with the definition of shape. And I thought that if there is no shape, then there can be no shape because without form, no shape can exist. So, I was thinking about the shape of things, and it occurred to me that they are not really shapes at all, but rather the edges of shapes. And I realized that if there is no edge, then there can be no edge. But if there is no edge, then what is the shape? What is this thing called a shape? Is it like a wall? It can't be like a wall because walls don't exist without edges, and the edges of things don't exist without something to which they belong.
